Having worked and trained with many of Vancouver’s revered performing artists for the last sixteen years, Shawna Parry is thrilled to be able to pass on her knowledge and passion for vocal training to the students of Dancin’ Stars and High Note. Besides instructing, choreographing, and directing, she has an ongoing active performance career which she draws upon whenever inspiring the hobbyist singer or advising the more serious student from audition preparation to career advice. Performance credits include: Guys and Dolls “Adelaide” (Metro, Ovation Award nominee for Most Outstanding Female Performance), The Diary of Adam and Eve “Eve” (VanFringe), A Chorus Line “Connie” (VIVA), West Side Story“Anybodys” (Vancouver Opera), The Pack Is Back “Peggy Lee” (Van Warren Productions) and helping with the creation and voice of “Sara” for the innovative and site-specific theatre project How To Love-The Headphone Play (Idea Factory Ent/Van Fringe).
Shawna Parry will next be performing in and assisting Director Jeff Hyslop with the original musical ‘Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen this December. Shawna brings her own training of a mixture of classical and more recently Speech Level Singing method (used by numerous stars and grammy winners), as well as her body awareness and expertise from dance and acting techniques to her classes. Her fascination with the craft and desire to connect with her students always lends for a dynamic lesson!
